Latest Podcast Interview with The School of Heritage on Raising Innovative Children

Innovative children who are demonstrating their entrepreneurial spirit as discussed by Aliesha Embleton from Sapling Minds in her award-winning book From Seed to Sapling.

As a child development specialist, and a step-parent, I’ve often wondered: What does it really take to raise a child who cannot only survive but thrive in today’s rapidly changing world? That’s exactly what I had the pleasure of exploring on my recent interview with The School of Heritage podcast.

In this episode, we dove deep into what it truly means to nurture the next generation of leaders, problem-solvers, changemakers and innovative children. It’s no secret that the world our children are growing up in is vastly different from the one we knew at their age. Traditional education and parenting playbooks aren’t always enough to prepare kids for the challenges and opportunities ahead.

That’s why this conversation felt so meaningful. We explored how parents, educators, and mentors can cultivate curiosity, critical thinking, and resilience in children aged 6 to 12, the middle years that are often overlooked but so crucial for building confidence and adaptability.

One of my favourite parts of the conversation was when we unpacked how small, consistent actions, like asking open-ended questions, celebrating mistakes as learning opportunities, and encouraging independent problem-solving, can build the kind of resilience and creativity that kids need to thrive.

We also talked about how parents can model the skills they want to see in their children, from handling setbacks with grace to embracing a growth mindset. These are the real-world tools that empower kids to step into their potential, not just as learners, but as future leaders in their own right.

Whether you’re guiding a classroom, raising a child, or mentoring tomorrow’s trailblazers, this episode is packed with insights and practical strategies that you can put into action today.

If you’re ready to spark innovation and resilience in your child’s life, I’d love for you to tune in. You can listen to the full episode on Spotify or Apple Podcasts. Let’s keep building the future together, one curious, resilient child at a time.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the episode! What strategies have worked for you in nurturing creativity and resilience in your child? Drop a comment, send me a message, or share your story, let’s learn from each other.
